Arwin Tan & Sharon

What I recall from the talk is as listed below:-
1. What is the key towards choir management?
- Patience. Learning takes time, as no difference with vocal music.
- No Anger, no frustration. Nobody should fight frustration with frustration, fire with fire. Pour in warmth when they are cold. Cool them down when there are fights.
- Lots of laughters
- Lots of learning and teaching for satisfaction. PPL don't come here just for friendships. Choir members ought to be commited to attendancy as much as the commitment towards music itself. Friendship is not the consideration of joining a society.
- The members are lead by master, do revise yourself every time.
2. What is the techniques to high notes, and low tones?
- Think. Think high when you sing low notes. Press your notes when you sing high notes.
- Vertical singing. Use your belly not your throat. Simple way of checking is turning your head around, it should not affect your singing.
3. What is the beauty of accapella?
- Continuous melody. With different ppl breathing at different place you creates continuous meloday, just relaxes ppl after the piece.
- Beautiful Chords produced by ppl
4. How do you help "tone deaf"?
- Should take "tone deaf" a better defination, a person who needs more patience, care and love. Starts with the note that he/she is capable to sing. Patience, patience, paatiieeencccceeee.
- If he/ she really cannot do it. Let them service other matters and allow other extra sessions for them.
- Let members help too.
5. How do you breath?
- Belly breath. Voice with your belly.
6. How do you produce nice chords?
- Never accept wrong notes. Do not get angry with choir members but lead them to the right position.
- Separate learning level.
Level 1 - notes learning.
Level 2 - listening with combination of parts, bass & alto/ tenor & bass...
Level 3 - merging & fine tuning
